Cody Canada fell in love with country music at a young age and began playing guitar at eight years old, so it’s no surprise that he’s come this far. The former front man for Cross Canadian Ragweed, the alternative country band from the rolling plains of Oklahoma, Canada now fronts for The Departed, joined by fellow Cross Canadian Ragweed member, Jeremy Plato (Bassist).
Other members include Seth James on guitar, keyboardist Steve Littleton, and percussionist Chris Doege. This mix of highly talented musicians keep the outlaw sound of country music alive.” The Departed” released their first album in 2011 reaching number 11 on the billboard charts. “This is Indian land” is a compilation of cover songs from numerous Oklahoma songwriters.
In 2012 The Departed released their first original studio album, “Adventus”, which peaked billboard charts at 16. One year ago, Seth James parted from the group, changing the lineup, but that didn’t slow this four piece band. They’ve powered on, showing fans the side of Cody Canada they’ve come to miss over the past few years.
This is a band with a hometown feel, songs about small town loves and losses accompanied by classic guitar riffs, stories about life over an easy going rhythm that keeps your toe tapping. Canada’s’ song writing is in a league of its own, full of honesty and irony. This mix of soulful blues, hard rock and country will not leave you disappointed.
On Monday, September 22, The Departed will be performing at the Redstone Room in Davenport, IA. Ticket are $17.00 in advance or $18.00 at the door. Doors open at 6:30p.m., show starts at 7:30p.m.
