Mallards can’t capitalize on shots, lose to Wichita

The Mallards dropped the contest 4-2 against the Wichita Thunder on Jan. 28.

At 1:13 of the first period Danick Gauthier found twine behind Evan Mosher with help from Eric Meland. The score remained unchanged until 8:03 of the sandwich stanza, when Nikita Kashirsky scored, Kenton Miller and Dan Milan assisting.

Just over seven minutes later Todd Hosmer scored with help from Michael Trebish. At 16:46 Mike Monfredo and Trebish received roughing penalties, Monfredo getting a double minor. With five seconds left in the frame, Kirill Tulupov put the Thunder up 4-0, Meland and Miller assisting.

Parker Milner replaced Evan Mosher in net to start the third period. At 1:56 of the final frame, Paxton Leroux and Erick Lizon dropped the gloves. Joe Perry scored on the powerplay at 4:13, Jeff Lee assisting. Perry once again scored on the powerplay at 7:29, Lee and Logan Nelson getting points for that tally as well.

Mosher made 18 saves on 22 shots for Tim Boron’s 38 saves on 40 shots. Milner made 2 saves on 2 shots.
