Where to Take Your Date on V-Day

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there are many events going on in the Quad Cities on Saturday, February 14th to celebrate that occasion and others.

For the romantic on campus, there is a “Valentine Indoor Music and Moonlight Walk” at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Valentines Day. The event will take place at the Watch Tower Lodge at the Black Hawk State Historic Site in Rock Island, IL. You can stroll around outside on the lit trail or stay inside and enjoy the open fire, refreshments, music, and dancing. The event is free and open to couples, singles, and those with a family. Then for those who have kids but would like some alone time, there is a “Parent’s Night Out” at the Eldridge Community Center and SkatePark. For $20 you can leave the kids there while you go celebrate Valentine’s Day.You can even email in the permission forms beforehand so that there is no hassle while dropping the kids off. Just call the center and they will arrange it for you.

If you are into theater, “Les Miserables” is showing from Jan. 16th through March 21st at the Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse. The times change depending on what day you want to go so be sure to check that particular day in order to get the right time. Ticket prices range from $29.26 to $50.16 and they do have student rates. You can also go to the Adler Theater where you will see “Shen Yun Preforming Arts,” which is inspired by the ancient Chinese culture. Ticket prices range from $52 to $122. For all you art lovers, the Figge Art Museum has a new exhibit called “Self Taught Genius – Treasures from the American Folk Art Museum.” The exhibit includes furniture, paintings, quilts, sculptures, and books and will be showing all through the month of February. Black Hawk Students can get in for free so don’t forget to bring your student ID.

Are you a hockey fan? Well, the Quad City Mallards will be playing at the iWireless Center on the 11th, 13th, and 25th of February. The Quad City Mallards are a minor league professional ice hockey team based in the Quad Cities area of Illinois and Iowa. Prices range from $10 to $28. If you enjoy the unique and unexpected then you might be interested in going to “Whodunit? Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner.” The event takes place on Friday Feb. 20th at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Tulip Mansion. Guest will be split into teams and have to find out how and why a murder took place on the grounds. The event is $45 and they will be served dinner and two glasses for wine or beer.
